Homemade Chili

This chili is not famous. It has not won any awards (yet.) It's just damn good chili I thought the world needed the recipe for. ;)

I like my chili to be chunky and not too spicy - more of a sweet chili! If you like ghost peppers with your chili and have to have milk on this side, this is not that. It is just husband approved, damn good chili.

Ingredients:

2 (15.5 oz) cans northern beans (drained)

2 (15.5 oz) cans dark red kidney beans (drained)

1 (15 oz) can pork & beans (drained)

1 (7.75 oz) can beanie weenees (JUST TRUST ME)

1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes (drained)

1 (~12 oz.) can spicy V8 juice

1 pound ground beef

1 (2.5 oz) package bacon bits

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon garlic salt

2 tablespoons brown sugar (JUST TRUST ME)

1 tsp Mexican style chili powder (add more to taste)

Directions:

  • Brown your ground beef, drain, and put into crock pot or large cooking pot on the stove

  • Add canned ingredients to the pot

  • Add spices to the pot

  • Stir

  • Cook, stirring occasionally (see cooking times below)

  • Once chili is done, serve with Fritos (or tortilla chips) and shredded cheese

Cook times:

Crock Pot on HIGH - 2-3 hours

Crock Pot on LOW - 6-8 hours

Large pot on stove HIGH - 30 minutes to an hour

Large pot on stove medium - 2 hours

If you like your chili to have some kick to it, feel free to add more of the Mexican chili powder OR use hot Rotel tomatoes instead of regular diced tomatoes!
